Our Little Thing - Creating A Sustainable Lifestyle In Patagonia

Creación de un estilo de vida sostenible en Patagonia パタゴニアでサステイナブルな暮らし作り

NORTH WEST GARDEN WALL COMPLETED

We've just completed a turf wall that leads all the way from the north fence to the house. All we need to do is fill the gap with a gate, and plant flowers and potatoes in the new terraces I created by digging up the turf. We're very pleased, he house looks like it's been there for a very long time. It took three days to make the last six meters, from where the gate will go to the house.
I cut the turf into large pieces and formed terraces out of the erosion that was created by the cows that used to pass this way before webrought the land and fenced it in. This is surprisingly hard and heavy work, but thanks to Konomi and Silvie the delivering and lifting onto the wall was made much easier. I love building these walls. There's quite an art in it and over the last seventy five meters I have learnt quite a lot of importnat little things, like how to make the wall tall, while keeping it relagtively narrow, thereby using less turf, less energy and less time.
