IF IT FALLS, THINK OF SOMETHING OR SOMEONE INSPIRATIONAL AND REBUILD IT STRONGER

Photos: Collapsed Polytunnel: Next Day Sun Shines

Hayato and Makoto stayed with us for almost a month, helping us with our home building project. It rained everyday and everyday we kept looking down the vast Rio Palena valley, hoping to see Melimoyo Volcano which lies forty five kilometers distant. It's a spectacular site, but it's not one they saw, yet each day offered something new and they… Continue

アースバッグの壁ができあがった Earthbag Walls Are Made !! ¡Los Muros Del Sacos De Tierra Han Hecho!!

Photo 1: Vital materials for earthbag - soil. 25% to 30% clay in the soil is the best mix. We tested our soil in a glass of water by leaving it overnight. Clay rose above the soil/sand and we could see the clear line. Wow, our soil had 25% of clay in the soil. Perfect mix! Thank you… Continue

LLAMAS AND OTHER THINGS WE FIND ON OUR WAY INTO TOWN

We're building our home about two kilometers from the village of La Junta and every day we hike back to the village following our work along the 1000 km long Carretera Austral the only highway that passes through Chilean Patagonia. It's an interesting walk, we never know what to expect. The other day it was a Llama that caught our attention. It was just wandering along the highway,… Continue

OUR TREASURE BOX EARTH

The Earth is our treasure box and we don´t even have to open it to experience the gifts it contains. Today´s been rather stormy in Patagonia, so we´ve not been home building, instead I decided to finish off a movie I mader earlier this year featuring some of Patagonia´s free earth gifts. More movies like this will follow - the other day we went for a walk into the forested hills close to La junta withn our friend Hayato and In just… Continue

MATÉ, COFFEE, FRIENDS, AND AN OLD VIOLIN

It was a grand occasion when lights arrived two years ago at La Junta'sPlaza.

Once the villagers of La Junta recognize that your not just a tourist passing through on their way to one spectacular Lonely Planet sight or another, you're acknowledged as a member of the community. Hayato and Makoto, our friends from Japan enjoyed their home away from home experience immensly.

Most people… Continue

EARTHBAGS ARRIVE AND THEY'RE ALL THE WRONG SIZE - THAT'S LIFE IN PATAGONIA

Hiyato & Makoto walk to our land to begin earthbag work, as a cowboy and rides into town.

The 1000 recycled Polypropylene bags we intend to fill with earth have finally arrived, we're very happy, but they're the wrong size! Well, this is South America and such things happen, especially when you're living in Patagonia, Chile, where it's very difficult to return what you have paid for,… Continue

ALERCE NATIONAL PARK, PATAGONIA, ARGENTINA - ON THE BORDER WITH CHILE

Our hosts in Trevelin, the owners of Rincon del Sur cabanas, made sure we remembered the region well and following our trip to the nearby Tulip fields they took us to Alerce National Park, a thirty minute four wheel drive away in the nearby Andes.

Alerce trees can live for a few thousand years, and thrive in cold climates, which is good, because high in the… Continue

TULIPS FROM ARGENTINA

I took these photo's as we passed through Argentinian Patagonia on our way to build our home in La Junta, Chile.

They were a lovely site set with the Andes as a back drop and Konomi was very happy to see them.

So did our friends, the owners of Cabanas Rincon dels Sur,… Continue

Remodeling America (Make it Green)

I met Paul in Dallas, Texas in 1991. Paul was walking and on his way from NJ to Rio De Janiero, speaking to Earth Summit. I made a commitment to my friend and Brother than that I will do all I can to to help him plant trees and green up our planet.

Greening up however takes many shapes and forms!

Here is a solution in global level. Please pass it on and take part. We are connected and the only way to change the current situation is "TEAM WORK"

Here is my… Continue
