At least once a week I walk over to the magical little spot we've discovered growing on our land and always I am amazed at the Earth's intricate life and beauty.

Spiky Plants Spearfull Landings

The micro world always reminds me of the macro and from little plants like this I can easily visualise a planet with the most awesome defence

Same species different time of life.

It's easy tp see why these things stick to your clothes and they must be extremely dangerous for an insect to land on.

PINK HORSES AND SPINY PLANTS

Nature is full of unusual things: Here we have a Pink Horse and a Nalca Plant, both from La Junta. The peeled spiny stem of the plant can be eaten in spring, before the large leaf fully opens. It tastes like a watery, lemony Rhubarb, grows all around and can be eaten raw with sugar, in pies or in the form of ice-cream, which I am told is delicious.
