Last year the weather was great - so too was this year, as virtually all the town folk gathered by the side of Rio Rosselot for the fiesta that celebrates the founding of the town. Along with the sun, the barbeque, the beer, wine and crafts were displays given by the local cowboys which included round ups, branding, a river crossing of cattle and even a cow riding contest. Lots of live music and a special guest Nicasio Luna who came all the way from cochrane, several hundred kilometers south. Nicasio is renowned for his song which tells of the potential plight of Rio Baker, Patagonia and Chile`s mightiest river - since ex dictator General Pinoche its been under threat of damming by a Spanish company - as yet no big dams exist in Chilean Patagonia and this is what the people want - so the movement to stop it is very strong and this song seem to have become an anthem.
This video will give you an idea of life in our part of the woods.
