Creación de un estilo de vida sostenible en Patagonia パタゴニアでサステイナブルな暮らし作り
We've entered into a partnership with our friend Yuji Miyata, who recently visited us here in Patagonia. Yuji, loved the nature here so much that he decided he wanted to live in Valle Quinto, where we have our second piece of land. We have four hectares, surrounded by thousands of hectares of wilderness and figured that together we could create something very beautiful, and in no time at all came up with the plan you see above.
Our experience building the Earthbag cabin has been very worthwhile - now we know what is practical or not and recognise the challenges of building in a place even more remote than where our cabin is. Consequently the design came easily, much easier that the cabin we're well on our way to completing. The design reflects the environment very well - it reminds me of an icelandic dwelling.
Little things like the size of windows are very important as we have to bring everything across two rivers - one we cross by a hand pulled two seater cable car, the other on a 28 meter log. So, the design reflects the wilderness challenge and will blend into the hills very easily.
THE LOG BRIDGE
We will begin this some time next year, after we've move dinto the cabin. It's amazing, we've worked so hard this last year, yet still want to build more. Yuji will continue walking from Korea to the 2012 London Olympics and we will go in search of a person to act as on site forman for the entirity of the project. Ultimately our goal is to create a communtiy of like minded people, wanting to live, with nature in a harmonious way. We hope to lead workshops and to introduce this glorious valley to as many people as necessary to save it - four glaciers feed our boundary river and the magnificent ancient forest that are the surrounds.
